MAX BILL x WB FORM

Max Bill was born in 1908 in Winterthur, Switzerland. After graduating from the Zurich School of Applied Arts, in 1928, he started his studies at the Bauhaus in Dessau, where, among others, Paul Klee and Wassily Kandinsky were his teachers.
The Kreuzzargenstuhl chair was designed in 1952 and shows Bill’s skills as a product designer. The cross-frame leg construction, invented by Bill, supports the seat in the center and gives the chair the greatest possible structural stability. In terms of form, the contrast between the slim seat and the sturdy frame accentuates the chair’s technical construction, giving it a powerful and sculptural expression.
