Copper engraver William Hogarth drafted his art theory treatise titled “An Analysis of Beauty” in 1753. The text, dedicated to the beauty of curved lines on surfaces and in space, was fully in the spirit of the Rococo style, the curves of which he absolutized as “lines of beauty”.
