Alvar Aalto Sofa Bed

Manufacturer WB Form
Designer Alvar Aalto

Whatever Alvar Aalto tackled, became unmistakable creations in his hands: Dining tables and desks, chairs, stools, lamps. The story of the Alvar Aalto Bed Sofa begins in 1930. For the Helsinki exhibition in 1930 'The Subsistence Minimum', Alvar and his wife Aino were presented with the task of developing furniture for small spaces. They were faced with the alternative of a folding bed, which could be stowed in a wall niche during the day time, or a sofa model, whose back rest could easily be lowered and transformed into a normal bed. They decided upon the Sofa model with a double function, which with one simple hand movement, could easily be turned into a bed.

After 75 years, wb form has re-edited the original series and produced this outstanding model in all its refined details, in an exclusive, Swiss-made, modern design sofa. It is produced in a small series and manufactured in limited edition. The furniture symbolizes modernity and the timeless lifestyle of the West.
