Manufacturer Ames
Designer Mae Engelgeer

Designer Mae Engelgeer transforms natural, especially soft new wool into the light and elegant creation of the new ames plaid. In combination with fine silver and gold yarns, graphic patterns are created on the loom. The designer adds fringes to the lower end of the hand-woven blankets, thus bringing out the manifold structures of the delicate and coarser yarns once again. The plaids are pleasantly soft and can be used as a light blanket or as a throw. Thanks to a tunnel at the upper end, they can also be hung as a tapestry or curtains. The blankets are available in two colors - purple and aubergine shades and a green terracotta version. The colors can be combined with the cushions of the chumbes collection.

The throws are made according to an old tradition in small manufactures in Cundinamarca, a suburb of Bogotá. They are elaborately handcrafted by the artesanos on horizontal looms. From the dying of the wool to the weaving and the finished product, the artisans work on a throw for about two weeks.
