Sunlight falls into the studio through a small lattice window. Clouds of fine oak dust float to the floor, carrying the scent of freshly cut wood with them. A final stroke of the hand frees the sculpture from the dust: the characterful FELS coffee table. Its low overall height invites everyone to linger and get together, while giving the room optical width and enormous generosity. FELS is a graceful study of form that requires a special amount of time and sensitivity in the production process. As with sculpture, the associative form is gradually worked out of the material. The warm precious wood is thus presented in an unexpected context that is normally associated with stone. Each of the countless edges is individually sanded by hand. An encounter between nature, craftsmanship and the Berlin state of mind. The sculptural beauty of the FELS coffee table creates an atmospheric contrast to soft sofas and fine textiles in the living room.
