The rug collection Uilas by the Dutch designer Mae Engelgeer is extended by the elegant model Uilas Noche. Black dyed fique fibre and natural new wool are woven with shiny metal threads in copper, silver and gold. In contrast to the coarse, dark natural fibres, the shimmering yarns give the carpet a luxurious effect and shine like the night sky over colombia. the textile designer found inspiration for the design in stories about the legendary gold country "eldorado" in northern south america. to this day, the region around Bogotá is known for its arts and crafts and gold jewellery production. The asymmetrical forms of the uilas carpets are a reference to the craftsmanship of the weavers and weavers. They are made by hand in factories in the provinces of Santander and boyacá. the artesanos work on a unique piece for up to 20 days.
