The landscape of the province of Huila lives from the meeting of two forces of nature, the river Rio Magdalena and the desert Tatacoa. Designer Mae Engelgeer brings the contrasting play of natural phenomena to life in the new Uilas rugs. With dry fique fibre, colors and shapes of the desert take shape, the natural soft new wool symbolises the lushness of the river valley. Twisted yarns of both natural materials emphasize the natural radiance of the carpets and their unusual spectrum of colors and shine. Colorful stripes of wool and fique set a colorful accent. The asymmetrical shapes refer to the craftsmanship of the knitters and weavers, giving the carpet a playful look. The rugs are handmade in manufactories in the provinces of Santander and Boyacá.
